Before and After Bedroom Inspiration
I’ve got bedrooms on my mind. We recently updated the bedroom designs for clients whom we originally designed the rooms around 10 years ago. At the time their kids were truly kids. And now, as young adults, we updated the bedroom designs to fit them now. While bedrooms are on my mind, let’s take a look at some of our favorite Before and After designs from over the years.
Bedroom 1: Wash Park
This bedroom was part of a whole home update in the Wash Park area of Denver. The clients had started in a design direction using pale blues and orange, but we took it to the next level. We started with fabrics that embraced their color inspiration, and used our signature method of pattern mixing. We added more interest with subtle wallpaper behind the headboard.

Our Interior Design plan added emphasis to the window seat. By now, you all should know just how much I love a window seat. They are one of the best design features, so we really emphasize a window seat in the rooms we design. A good window seat should include a cushion and throw pillows to maximize the comfort.
Bedroom 2: Castle Pines
In this Castle Pines home, our client had already selected the horse artwork and leather bed and chair. We enhanced the space with wallpaper that looks and feels like weathered barn wood as an accent in the bedroom and bathroom. We repeated our caramel leathers with a new bench and light fixture. The stunning light fixture also has a stirrup detail to continue our ranching theme.

Bedroom 3: West Arvada
This bedroom was part of a whole home remodel in Arvada. The bold, bedroom fabric colors were selected to complement the master bath tiles. The peacock accent wall reflects the homeowner’s love of the soothing blue while also creating a connection to the lovely Colorado sky just beyond the oversized windows.

Custom bedding is a great way to put your personal stamp on your primary suite. This particular hue is drawn from the wall tile in the master bathroom. Mixing patterns and textures creates a finished, designer look. Embellishments like the button details make custom bedding truly unique.
Bedroom 4: Anthem Broomfield
We took this bedroom form beige and boring, to a Mountain Lodge inspired retreat. This design started with the client’s selection of beautiful bedroom furniture in walnut. They desired a retreat that felt like a mountain lodge, but didn’t know where to begin.
The ceiling had the added feature of a tray design, but the plain white paint didn’t do anything to highlight this architectural feature. We added a reclaimed barn wood on the slope of the existing tray ceiling. Then we blended bedding and accents from both the gray/black and beige/brown family to create a timeless bedroom design.

Bedroom 5: Westminster
Traditional doesn’t have to be fussy. In fact, one of our favorite design styles is “New Traditional” and I would argue that this bedroom really demonstrates moving from Old Traditional and New Traditional. While the traditional bones of the room remained the same, the bedroom design was updated with more modern, clean-lined furniture and a sophisticated black & ivory color palette. Fussy floral patterns were replaced with a modern take on a traditional houndstooth pattern.
