Recently, we’ve been helping families that are moving into brand new Denver homes and need help adding color and style.

A brand new home – it’s exciting. You probably even got to select a number of the materials and finishes. But furnishing and making a home feel complete can be a challenge for many, especially when you are busy with life, family, work, and MOVING.

This is one area of our expertise. We can take your new home and transform it into YOUR home. Let’s walk through the client journey of furnishing a new home.

The Client Journey of Furnishing a New Home

For us, the process is the same for both remodels and furnishing. We want to know all about our clients, how they really live, and what makes them happy. It is so important to us to address the function as equally as the beautiful in every design that we create. So we want to know how our clients really live so our furniture plans and selections can support their lifestyle.

Then we get to work on design solutions customized to each client and their needs and personalities.

New build in City Park

After moving around for several years, the clients were excited to settle back in Denver. In their moves, they had collected a hodgepodge of furniture. Building a new home, in the Central Park neighborhood of Denver, was a chance to elevate their furniture and really define their own style.

For the first time, they wanted to be intentional about their interior design and choices. The couple shared common design sense, but no idea how to execute it.

In our process of getting to know the clients, we discovered that they loved both nature and strong architecture in which the support and structure is visible.

Our furniture and decor choices include a blend of the architecture and nature. Architectural elements can be seen in the strong lines of the wallpaper and metal canopy bed. More natural elements can be found in the soft colors and the natural stone of the lamps.

New Build in Castle Pines

The homeowners moved into a newly built home in Castle Pines, Colorado. The home had a nice layout and features but was a bland box of white on white on white. Our client purchased a few items, and then felt overwhelmed and didn’t want to make a mistake. He contacted Beautiful Habitat to help infuse the home with personality and warmth.

The clients are part of a family of Cattle Ranchers. He wanted a design to pay homage to the ranching and cowboy heritage, but also keeping the home modern and sophisticated.

We brought in the client’s personality through nods to ranching and horses in obvious and subtle ways. The wallpaper mimics a weathered wood you might find on a barn. The horse painting was the clients. We brought in similar caramel toned leather in the bench and the light fixture. The light fixture also has a stirrup detail.

The Client Journey

For a furnishing and decorating project, the client journey is much easier than a remodel. In both homes above, we added paint and wallpapers in our design plans. We also added multiple light fixtures. These all required very lite construction with the different tradespeople for a couple of days.

The most painful part is really waiting for all of the furniture and accessories to arrive. This usually takes 2-4 months. With furnishing and décor projects, the clients can continue living in the home for the duration of the project.

The Central Park the clients continued to live out of state until we had all the furniture moved in. Our Castle Pines clients were able to live in the home while we completed the designs.

For all Beautiful Habitat  interior design projects, we see the project through to the final details like Drapery and Artwork. We design these for the clients, then work with professional installers to ensure a smooth installation. The Beautiful Habitat team is onsite to place the final accessories for the perfect finishing touch.

Does it have to be a new build?

No – we follow the same process for any “new-to-you” home and we are just as excited to help clients refurnish a home that they’ve been in for years. It’s not uncommon for us to help our clients that moved into a home and were overwhelmed with life and kids. Then they find that 5 or even 10 years have gone by and they’ve been living with furniture that doesn’t even work with this home.

This is our first post on the Client Journey. Stay tuned and we’ll talk about the client journey through remodeling projects.
