A Tuscan-style Home Redesigned for Entertaining

Sometimes, life gets in the way of designing your own home. That is exactly what happened to our clients. They moved into a beautiful Tuscan-style home in South Denver, but were busy raising their children. When they finally caught their breath and looked up, seven years had gone by while they were living with boring beige walls, no art and furniture from an older and much smaller house.

That’s when our clients knew it was time to call in the experts.

In addition to the boring beige walls and undersized furniture, our clients had a wish list. At the top of this list was a desire to entertain. But the lack of furniture and personality and color was holding them back.

The home redesign starts at the Foyer, with the goal to create a warm welcome that creates the atmosphere for the whole home. Bold, rich colored wallpaper, sets the tone for the color palate throughout the home.
The foyer design focuses on creating a true welcome for arriving guests. The table offers a landing spot to put items down upon arrival. The ottoman offers a place to sit. And the mirror, a place to check one’s appearance. Both the ottoman and foyer table are upholstered in cork. The client wish list included materials that promoted sustainability.
In the living room, we added ample seating and color. Our interior design plans started with making the fireplace the focal point it deserved. We added a linear fireplace surrounded by a beautiful blue tile. The two large sofas allow for great entertaining and conversation, anchored with a beautiful area rug that was the starting point for the color palette of the home.
A window seat on each side of the redesigned fireplace accommodates larger groups by offering overflow seating, as well as clever storage for extra pillows and blankets. Window treatments soften the hard lines of the windows and fireplace while bringing in more rich color and pattern.
The powder room is always a place you can add more fun elements. Our clients love to collect pottery from their travels the wallpaper is a nod to pottery, while also incorporating the color scheme of our new design. We complimented the wallpaper with fun blue wavy-framed mirror.
In an empty back hallway, we designed a new custom-built mudroom to accommodate family life. The home color palette is repeated in the blue and red floor tiles.
The existing kitchen was well designed and fit the Tuscan-style of the architecture. However, it also lacked color and furniture. We added a custom wainscot design around the island and comfortable swivel bar stools for entertaining.
The dining room also craved color and style, while still remaining family friendly. Our design added comfort with upholstered dining chairs in a rich blue fabric. Consistent with our environmentally friendly goals, the upholstery is 100% recycled fabric. Sheer window coverings were added to filter the west facing sun, while also adding pattern and texture.
