A 1990’s Tudor is redesigned with Intention and a little Curated Glam

This is a project in the designers own home, a neo-Tudor design built in the early 1990’s. The home has beautiful bones; it was the model home for a custom builder in the 1990’s. There are stunning upgrades and millwork throughout, but the 1990’s finishes were feeling very dated.

Our goal was never to erase its history, but to honor the craftsmanship while thoughtfully reimagining the surfaces and selections. By preserving the architectural integrity and elevating the finishes, the home now feels timeless rather than dated—proof that when the foundation is strong, a carefully considered redesign can breathe entirely new life into a space.

In the formal living room, we leaned into the home’s most distinctive architectural feature—the graceful curved walls. While beautiful in concept, the curves quietly disappeared when finished in paint alone. By introducing bold black and white wallpaper, we transformed those subtle lines into a true design statement. The pattern moves effortlessly across the three curved corners, accentuating the architecture rather than masking it.
Rather than simply wallpapering the niche, we elevated the moment by installing three framed panels of wallpaper. This approach feels tailored and architectural—like curated art rather than applied décor. The result is a dining room that feels collected, layered, and quietly luxurious, with every detail thoughtfully considered. To balance a family heirloom chest, we added a table made from reclaimed oak flooring and vintage chairs were reupholstered in beautiful jewel tones.

In the dining room, we chose to celebrate the architectural details that set this home apart. The layered tray ceiling became a true feature once we enveloped it in color. By painting the ceiling, we highlighted its dimension and craftsmanship, drawing the eye upward.
The Home Library now shines with custom built-ins in a saturated emerald green are paired with natural walnut for warmth and contrast. We carried the emerald onto the surrounding millwork—wainscoting, window trim, and door casings—creating an enveloping, cocoon-like effect that feels intentional and refined.
The original red brick fireplace felt heavy and dated, so we reimagined it as a refined architectural focal point. Reeded limestone tile introduces subtle texture and movement, while a custom walnut mantel adds warmth and richness—creating a fireplace that feels both contemporary and timeless. Rather than defaulting to the typical linear fireplace with a television mounted above, we were intentional about doing things differently. By separating the fireplace and TV, we preserved the integrity of each element. The fireplace becomes a true moment—inviting conversation and connection—while the television is thoughtfully placed for comfortable viewing without competing for attention. The result is a living space that feels elevated, balanced, and designed with purpose, never driven by trends, always guided by how our clients truly live.
Denver kitchen remodel
A kitchen with an open flow helps keep everything (and everyone!) moving. Bar stools allow for a quick bite eaten at the counter. The cabinetry is a mix of painted wood and gray-stained bamboo.
This award-winning primary bathroom was designed as a true sanctuary, a retreat that celebrates the daily rituals of self-care. The custom vanity was thoughtfully designed to maximize storage without sacrificing style.
A sculptural soaking tub becomes the room’s focal point. A wall-mounted electric fireplace introduces unexpected warmth and ambiance, transforming the space into a spa-like escape year-round.
